Our verdict

“Cheap entry prices and a clear plan table, but the funded rulebook and payout schedule are thin and Trustpilot shows a recent cluster of payout complaints. Suited to traders who accept that risk.”

Full Equity Edge review

17 min read · Updated Oct 28, 2026

Equity Edge is a CFD prop firm registered in Saint Lucia, with a UK sister company that handles payments and customer service. You trade forex, metals, indices, energies and crypto CFDs on MT5 or Match-Trader. It sells three families of evaluations (Legacy, Swift and Flagship, each as a 1-step or 2-step) plus an Instant account that funds you on purchase, in sizes from $2,500 up to $300,000.

The prices are the headline. A $2,500 Swift 1-Step costs $15, a $10,000 Swift 2-Step costs $46, and none of the evaluations has a time limit. The trade-offs are less obvious: the max loss on 1-step and Instant accounts trails your equity and never stops, news windows can fail a challenge, payouts run every 14 days at 80% until you've taken 16 of them, and the rules are spread across an FAQ, a rules page and the terms, which don't always agree. This review goes through the four plans in our database, with dollar examples, and flags where Equity Edge's own pages conflict.

The short version

  • Best for: budget forex traders who want to try a large account cheaply, with no deadline, and who trade manually around the news calendar.
  • Not for: US and Canadian residents, EA users, traders who need fast payouts, and anyone who travels a lot or uses a VPN.
  • Biggest strength: price and choice. At least six account sizes on every evaluation, starting at $15, and Instant accounts up to $300,000.
  • Biggest risk: payout review. Profit made inside a news window is removed, and if it's more than 25% of your profit share, the whole payout is rejected and the account reset.
  • Our score: 3.5 out of 5. Excellent value, but a slow payout schedule, a short public track record and rules that are loosely defined in places.

Who runs Equity Edge

The website and trading platform are run by Equity Edge Ltd, a company incorporated in Saint Lucia (company number 2025-00306). A UK company, Equity Edge Analytics Ltd (number 15263705), handles evaluation administration, customer service and payments, and card statements show "EQUITYEDGE" or "EQUITY EDGE ANALYTICS LTD". The terms, last updated 6 October 2026, are governed by Saint Lucia law, with payment matters possibly falling under English law because of the UK company. Disputes go to the courts of Saint Lucia on a non-exclusive basis.

The registered address isn't consistent. The site footer gives the Ground Floor of The Sotheby Building in Rodney Village, Rodney Bay, while the terms give the First Floor of The Tower, Rodney Bay. Both are in Gros-Islet.

Equity Edge doesn't state a founding year. It has been operating since at least May 2024, when Finance Magnates reported that it lost MetaTrader 5 access through its broker and moved traders to Match-Trader. MT5 is back on offer today alongside Match-Trader.

All accounts are simulated, and no customer money is traded. The main rulebook is the Trading Rules and Guidelines page; the FAQ, terms and a separate Instant account agreement add more rules.

Programs and prices

Prices are list prices from the plan table on Equity Edge's challenges page, checked on 28 October 2026, before any coupon. The page doesn't show a struck-through price, so we can't tell whether any of them are sale prices. Daily and max loss figures below are for day one; the daily limit is recalculated each day.

Legacy 1-Step

Legacy is the "most popular" plan on the site: one phase, a bigger target and slightly more room than Swift.

  • Make 10% with a 4% daily loss limit and a 6% trailing max loss.
  • Minimum 2 trading days in the evaluation and 1 on the funded account. No time limit.
  • Leverage up to 1:40 on forex.
  • 80% split, rising to 90% only through the scaling plan.
AccountPriceTargetDaily lossMax loss
$2,500$24$250$100$150
$5,000$29$500$200$300
$10,000$54$1,000$400$600
$25,000$128$2,500$1,000$1,500
$50,000$278$5,000$2,000$3,000
$100,000$526$10,000$4,000$6,000

Worked example, $25,000 Legacy 1-Step. Your floor starts at $23,500 and you pass at $27,500. On day one you can lose $1,000. The max loss trails your highest balance or equity: if an open trade takes you to $26,000, the floor moves to $24,440 ($26,000 minus 6%) and stays there. By the time you reach the target, the floor sits at $25,850 or higher, above your starting balance, and the rules don't say it ever stops trailing on the funded account.

Swift 1-Step

Swift is the cheapest plan, with tighter limits.

  • Make 8% with a 3% daily loss limit and a 5% trailing max loss.
  • Minimum 2 trading days, then 1 day on the funded account. No time limit.
  • Leverage up to 1:30 on forex. 80% split rising to 90%.
AccountPriceTargetDaily lossMax loss

$5,000$19$400$150$250
$10,000$42$800$300$500
$25,000$117$2,000$750$1,250
$50,000$257$4,000$1,500$2,500
$100,000$407$8,000$3,000$5,000

Worked example, $10,000 Swift 1-Step. Your floor is $9,500, your day-one loss limit is $300 and the target is $10,800. Say a trade runs to $10,600 in open profit and you hold it: the floor jumps to $10,070. If the trade then reverses, you have $530 of room from the peak, not $500 from where you started. That's the cost of a trailing limit that follows equity.

Swift 2-Step

The 2-step version swaps the trailing limit for a fixed one.

  • Phase 1: make 8%. Phase 2: make 5%. Each phase needs at least 2 trading days.
  • 4% daily loss limit and an 8% static max loss in both phases and on the funded account.
  • Phase 2 credentials arrive within 2 hours of passing phase 1.
  • Leverage up to 1:30. 80% split rising to 90%.

$100,000$472$8,000$5,000$4,000$8,000

Worked example, $50,000 Swift 2-Step. Your floor is $46,000 for the life of the account. Each day you can lose 4% of whichever is higher at the start of the day, balance or equity, which is $2,000 on day one. Hit $54,000 to pass phase 1, then $52,500 in phase 2. Because the floor never moves, a good week builds you a real cushion, unlike the 1-step plans.

Instant

Instant skips the evaluation. You trade a funded account from the first day and request payouts every 14 days.

  • 3% daily loss limit and a 5% trailing max loss.
  • At least 7 trading days before a payout and a 15% "consistency score".
  • A 1% "max risk" and a 3% "safety cushion" are listed in the plan table, but none of the pages we read explains how they're measured. Ask support before trading.
  • $6 commission per lot instead of $3, leverage up to 1:30, no weekend holding and an 8-minute news window.
  • 90% split, per the rules page. Accounts inactive for 30 days after the first trade are closed.
AccountPriceDaily lossMax loss

$200,000$605$6,000$10,000
$300,000$899$9,000$15,000

Worked example, $100,000 Instant. Your floor starts at $95,000 and you can lose $3,000 on day one. Reach $104,000 and the floor trails up to $98,800. The rules then say that after you request a payout, the max loss "resets back to your account initial balance" and starts trailing again once you're 5% up. Read literally, that puts your floor at $100,000 after the first payout, which would leave almost no room. Get support to confirm the floor level in writing.

Instant pricing is unusual: the $50,000 Instant at $175 costs less than the $50,000 Legacy 1-Step at $278.

Other plans on sale

Equity Edge also sells a Legacy 2-Step (10% then 5%, 5% daily, 10% static max loss, 1:40) at $25 to $549, and the Flagship range, which has the highest leverage. Flagship 1-Step (10% target, 4% daily, 6% trailing, up to 1:50) costs $35 to $1,099, and Flagship 2-Step (8% then 5%, 4% daily, 10% max loss, 3 minimum days per phase, up to 1:100) costs $40 to $1,125, both with a $200,000 size. These aren't in our comparison data yet, but the same payout and news rules apply, except that Flagship evaluations have no news restriction.

Which Equity Edge plan should you pick?

For most traders the Swift 2-Step is the safest bet. The 8% static floor never moves, so profit you make early becomes real breathing room, and the 2-day minimum per phase is easy to meet. It costs a little more than Swift 1-Step but removes the trailing-equity trap.

Pick Legacy 1-Step if you want one phase and can manage a trailing limit. It gives 6% of room against a 10% target, a better ratio than Swift's 5% against 8% for traders who let winners run.

Pick Swift 1-Step only for very cheap practice runs. A 5% limit that trails equity punishes anyone who gives back open profit.

Pick Instant if you're experienced, trade small and don't hold over weekends. The 1% max risk, 15% consistency score, 8-minute news window and $6 commission make it the most restrictive account, though it's the only one with a 90% split from the start.

On cost per $1,000 of funding, the cheapest option is the $300,000 Instant at about $3.00 per $1K. Among evaluations, the $5,000 Swift 1-Step is cheapest at $3.80 per $1K. For value with real room to trade, we'd pick the $10,000 Swift 2-Step at $46: $800 of fixed drawdown for less than the price of a meal out.

Trading rules in practice

Drawdown and the daily reset

The daily loss limit resets at 22:00 UK time (10pm London), which is 5pm in New York for most of the year. It's measured from the higher of your balance or equity at that moment, so floating profit you carry over the reset raises your limit for the next day but also raises the floor you can't break.

The max loss works differently by plan. On 1-step evaluations and Instant it trails your highest balance or equity, including open profit. On 2-step plans it's fixed at a percentage of the starting balance. The rules page contradicts itself slightly on the 1-step: the main text says the limit trails your highest balance or equity, while the plan table measures it from your highest closed-trade balance. Plan for the stricter version, which includes open profit.

Both limits include swaps and commissions.

Commission is $3 per round-trip lot on Legacy, Swift and Flagship accounts and $6 on Instant, and indices are commission-free. On a $100,000 Instant account, trading 2 lots of EUR/USD in and out five times a day costs 10 × $6 = $60, or 2% of your $3,000 daily limit. The same trading on a challenge account costs $30. Crypto can't be traded over the weekend because the broker closes it.

News, weekends and overnight

You can hold through news and overnight on every plan, and over weekends on all evaluation and funded accounts except Instant. What you can't do is open or close a trade, including a stop loss or take profit filling, inside a window around high-impact news:

AccountEvaluationFunded
Legacy and Swift2 minutes either side; a fill in the window breaches the challenge2 minutes either side; profit from those trades is removed
FlagshipNo restriction5 minutes either side; profit is removed
InstantNo evaluation8 minutes either side; profit is removed

USD news restricts every pair. Other currencies' news restricts pairs in that currency plus related indices: EUR news covers GER30, FRA40 and ITA40, and GBP news covers UK100. The source calendar is ForexFactory.

The key number: if profit from news-window trades is more than 25% of your profit share, Equity Edge rejects the payout, forfeits your profit share and resets the account to its starting balance. Repeat offences can end the account.

This is also where Equity Edge's pages disagree most. The slippage FAQ says trading during news events is permitted, while the gambling policy lists trading around news as a sign of gambling that can lead to removed profits.

EAs, copy trading and hedging

  • EAs and trade copiers are not allowed and lead to evaluation denial, payout denial and account closure.
  • Copy trading is allowed between two Equity Edge challenge accounts, never more than two and never on Instant. Overlapping trades on the same asset count as copying even if you place them by hand at different times.
  • Hedging, group hedging, martingale, tick scalping, latency or reverse arbitrage, gap trading and "opposite account trading" are all prohibited.
  • The gambling policy also targets using your full daily loss in one trade and splitting large trades into smaller ones. It's loosely worded, so keep risk per trade modest.

Location, IP and account limits

The region of your IP address must stay consistent across purchase, the dashboard and your trading accounts. If it changes, the risk team can ask for proof such as a plane ticket, passport stamp or live video, so tell support before you travel. The terms also ban using VPNs to exploit the system.

You can hold up to $200,000 in funded accounts (Legacy and Swift combined capped at $100,000) plus up to $300,000 traded at once on Instant accounts. Accounts can't be merged, and you must use one email address.

Minimum activity

Evaluations have no inactivity rule, so you can buy now and trade later. Instant accounts are closed after 30 days without a trade, counting from the first trade.

How payouts work

On Legacy, Swift and Flagship funded accounts, you can request a payout every 14 days, counted from your first trade on the funded account, at an 80% split. Instant accounts also pay every 14 days, at 90%. Only VIP traders get on-demand payouts. Payouts are paid by bank wire or crypto. Equity Edge doesn't publish a minimum payout or a per-request cap on the pages we read.

The homepage advertises 48-hour payout processing. That's the time to process a request, not how often you can make one.

Scaling plan. The 90% split on challenge accounts comes through the scaling plan:

LevelRequirementCapital1-Step Legacy max loss1-Step Swift max loss2-Step Swift max loss
Level 14 payouts, 10% total profit share+20%7%6%9%

VIP also brings on-demand payouts and the 90% split. With payouts every 14 days, reaching 16 takes at least 224 days, around seven and a half months, so plan on 80% for a long time. Instant accounts don't scale.

Identity checks and refunds. KYC runs through Sumsub after you pass your first challenge, using an original physical ID; you only do it once. Payouts can be declined for suspected rule breaches, location mismatches or strategy manipulation. There are no free retakes and no fee refunds, and the Instant agreement says its purchases are final in all circumstances. Paying with someone else's card leads to a rejected payout and a disabled account.

Who can sign up

Equity Edge doesn't serve the United States or Canada; the site footer lists both, along with Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria. Its restricted-country FAQ lists 25 places, including Pakistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Venezuela, Russia and Belarus, but leaves out the US and Canada, so check both lists. Match-Trader isn't available in Poland, so Polish traders need MT5.

You must be 18 or over. Payment options at checkout include cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, UPI and crypto, depending on your country.

Reputation

On Trustpilot, Equity Edge scores 4.2 out of 5 from 2,540 reviews, checked on 28 October 2026. 68% of reviews give five stars, 13% four stars and 15% one star. The profile was claimed in July 2025, Equity Edge pays for a Trustpilot subscription, and it had replied to 91% of negative reviews, usually within a week. See the Trustpilot page.

The positive reviews mostly praise fast, friendly support, with staff named in many of them, and help with logins and verification. The one-star reviews we read most often describe payouts denied or delayed, disputed breaches, and rule enforcement over things like one-sided trading, copy trading, the 1% risk rule and "impulsive decision-making". A few reviewers say they were offered accounts to remove negative reviews; we can't verify that. Replies on negative reviews are signed by a compliance team and usually point to a specific rule.

Beyond the May 2024 MT5 outage covered by Finance Magnates, we found no regulator actions against Equity Edge. One thing to avoid confusing: the UK's FCA warned about a firm called Equity Edge Assets on 6 March 2026. That firm uses a different website (equityedgeassets.com) and a London address, and isn't the prop firm reviewed here.

Mistakes to avoid at Equity Edge

  1. Letting a stop or target fill during news on a Legacy or Swift challenge. In the evaluation, that's a breach, not just a deduction. Pull orders before red-folder events.
  2. Giving back open profit on a 1-step or Instant account. The floor follows your equity peak, so a trade that runs and reverses can leave you far tighter than you think.
  3. Holding an Instant trade into the weekend. Instant accounts can't hold over the weekend; challenge accounts can.
  4. Trading from a new country without telling support. An IP region change can stall a payout until you send proof of travel.
  5. Copying trades across more than two accounts. Two challenge accounts is the limit, and Instant accounts can't be copied at all.
  6. Assuming a 90% split. Challenge accounts pay 80% until VIP, which takes 16 payouts.

Before you buy: checklist

  • Confirm you don't live in the US, Canada or a country on the FAQ list.
  • Pick MT5 or Match-Trader carefully; you can't switch on the same account.
  • Decide whether you need static drawdown (2-step) or can live with trailing equity (1-step).
  • Plan your trading around red-folder news on the ForexFactory calendar.
  • Ask support in writing how the Instant 1% max risk and 3% safety cushion work, if you're buying Instant.
  • Use code SCOUT at checkout. See our Equity Edge coupon page for how to apply it.

Our verdict

Equity Edge is one of the cheapest ways to trade a large simulated forex account, and the Swift 2-Step in particular is good value thanks to its fixed 8% floor. No time limits and a wide size range make it easy to start small and work up.

The trade-off is in the back end. Payouts come every 14 days at 80% for most traders, trailing limits follow open equity, news rules are strict and inconsistently described, and payouts can be reviewed on vague grounds like "gambling". Keep risk small, stay well clear of news, and read the rules page in full before you pay.
