Breakout
Kraken-owned firm with one-step crypto evaluations on its own terminal and USDC payouts.
About Breakout
Breakout is a crypto prop firm founded in 2023, based in United States. It sells 4 programs — 1-Step Classic, 1-Step Pro, 1-Step Turbo and Spark — with accounts from $5K to $200K and prices from $20. You trade on Own platform. Funded traders keep up to 90% of profits, paid on demand by crypto.
Our verdict
“Suits crypto-first traders who want a single-phase evaluation with static drawdown and on-demand USDC payouts and are fine with the funded account being issued by a separate firm that may book trades internally.”

What we like
- No time limit, no minimum trading days and no consistency rule on the one-step evaluations
- Payouts can be requested any day, 24/7, from $50 after the split, and trading can continue in the same account
- Rules, drawdown limits by size and the country list are published in a detailed help center
- Owned by Kraken since September 2025 (announced 2025-09-04, reported by Finance Magnates)
Watch out for
- Funded accounts are issued by a separate company (Payward Oceanic, Ltd) under a Funded Trader Agreement after KYC; it may book funded trades internally instead of routing them (disclosed on the pricing page)
- Only USDC on Ethereum (ERC-20) payouts, which the firm says are not insured or guaranteed
- Fees are non-refundable, the 2-Step evaluation is no longer sold and Spark is sold out
Flags we checked
- Ownership by a large exchange is documented in independent news coverage
- Rules, limits per size and restricted countries are in a public help center
- Pricing-page disclosure that funded-trader ideas may be recorded as internal book entries and that conflicts of interest may exist

Breakout is a crypto prop firm owned by Kraken. You trade more than 60 crypto pairs, plus trackers for the Nasdaq 100, the S&P 500, crude oil and silver, on Breakout's own terminal, around the clock and through the weekend. Every evaluation is a single step with a static drawdown, and there's no time limit, no minimum days, no consistency rule and no news restriction.
The prices are among the lowest we track: a $5,000 Turbo costs $20, and the $200,000 Turbo works out at $3.30 per $1,000 of funding. Payouts are on demand in USDC. The catches are tight drawdowns (3% to 6%), a 3% daily limit that resets on your balance, trading fees on every order, and a funded stage run by a separate Kraken company with wide discretion over your account. This review goes through all of it with dollar examples.
The short version
- Best for: crypto day traders and swing traders with tight stops who want a cheap one-step test, a fixed floor and payouts any day of the week.
- Not for: traders who need room to be wrong, anyone who trades other people's signals, and residents of the 23 restricted countries.
- Biggest strength: cheap, simple rules. One target, a floor that never moves, and no minimum days or consistency checks before you can withdraw.
- Biggest risk: the small margin for error. A Turbo account's total room is 3%, and at 10x on BTC a 0.3% move against a fully sized position uses all of it.
- Our score: 4.3 out of 5. Value and payouts score near the top of our scale, while a short track record holds it back.
Who runs Breakout
Two companies are involved, and Breakout's help center is clear that they are separate:
- Breakout Trading Group, LLC, a Delaware company, runs the evaluations and the simulated trading environment. Its evaluation terms are governed by Florida law.
- Payward Oceanic, Ltd (POL) provides the funded accounts. If you pass, you sign a separate Funded Trader Agreement with POL, and that agreement, not Breakout's, governs your payouts.
Finance Magnates reported on 4 September 2025 that Kraken had acquired Breakout, a Tampa, Florida firm founded in 2023 by Alex Miningham and Dylan Loomer. Payward is the name of Kraken's parent company, and the site names Kraken as Breakout's owner.
All trading is simulated, in both the evaluation and the funded account. Breakout says prices, spreads, order book depth and fills mirror live markets using real liquidity data, so large orders fill level by level just as they would on an exchange. The funded-stage terms let POL decide whether your trades are routed to a market or only recorded internally.
The rules are spread across a public help center, the Symbols page (leverage and position limits per market), and the two agreements. The help center articles are short and dated, which makes them easy to check.
Programs and prices
Breakout sells three one-step evaluations. Prices below are list prices from Breakout's pricing page, checked on 27 October 2026, before any coupon. They are the 80/20 prices. A permanent 90/10 split upgrade costs 20% more and can only be bought at checkout, for example $102 instead of $85 for a $10,000 Classic.
All three share these rules:
- One upgrade target, hit using your balance.
- 3% daily loss limit, measured from your balance at 00:30 UTC.
- Static maximum drawdown from the starting balance.
- No time limit, no minimum trading days, no consistency rule.
- News trading and weekend holding allowed.
- No refunds and no resets after a breach.
1-Step Classic
The 1-Step Classic has the most room.
- Make 10% with a 6% static drawdown.
- Not sold at $200,000.
| Account | Price | Target | Day-one daily loss | Max drawdown | Cost per $1K |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | $45 | $500 | $150 | $300 | $9.00 |
| $10,000 | $85 | $1,000 | $300 | $600 | $8.50 |
| $25,000 | $215 | $2,500 | $750 | $1,500 | $8.60 |
| $50,000 | $400 | $5,000 | $1,500 | $3,000 | $8.00 |
| $100,000 | $800 | $10,000 | $3,000 | $6,000 | $8.00 |
Worked example, $50,000 Classic. Your account can never go below $47,000. On day one you can lose $1,500. If your balance is $52,000 at the next 00:30 UTC reset, that day's floor is $50,440 (3% of $52,000 is $1,560). You pass at $55,000.
1-Step Pro
The 1-Step Pro is cheaper than Classic, with a higher target and less room.
- Make 12% with a 5% static drawdown.
| Account | Price | Target | Day-one daily loss | Max drawdown | Cost per $1K |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | $33 | $600 | $150 | $250 | $6.60 |
| $10,000 | $65 | $1,200 | $300 | $500 | $6.50 |
| $25,000 | $150 | $3,000 | $750 | $1,250 | $6.00 |
| $50,000 | $280 | $6,000 | $1,500 | $2,500 | $5.60 |
| $100,000 | $545 | $12,000 | $3,000 | $5,000 | $5.45 |
| $200,000 | $1,090 | $24,000 | $6,000 | $10,000 | $5.45 |
Worked example, $100,000 Pro. Your floor is $95,000 for the life of the account and you pass at $112,000. You need to make $12,000 while never losing more than $5,000 from the start, a target 2.4 times your room.
1-Step Turbo
The 1-Step Turbo is the cheapest and the strictest.
- Make 9% with a 3% static drawdown.
| Account | Price | Target | Day-one daily loss | Max drawdown | Cost per $1K |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | $20 | $450 | $150 | $150 | $4.00 |
| $10,000 | $40 | $900 | $300 | $300 | $4.00 |
| $25,000 | $95 | $2,250 | $750 | $750 | $3.80 |
| $50,000 | $180 | $4,500 | $1,500 | $1,500 | $3.60 |
| $100,000 | $330 | $9,000 | $3,000 | $3,000 | $3.30 |
| $200,000 | $660 | $18,000 | $6,000 | $6,000 | $3.30 |
Worked example, $25,000 Turbo. On day one your daily and total floors are the same: $24,250. You need $27,250 to pass, three times your room. With BTC at 10x, a full $250,000 position loses your entire $750 on a 0.3% move. Trade a fraction of that.
Spark (limited)
Breakout also launched Spark, a $50,000 account aimed at index traders, as a limited run of 1,500 accounts. It has a $3,000 target, a $1,500 trailing loss limit that follows your closed-balance high and never stops trailing, no daily limit, and up to 40x leverage on the index trackers. It was listed as sold out when we checked, so we don't cover it further.
Which Breakout plan should you pick?
Classic is the right choice for most traders. The 6% drawdown against a 10% target is the most forgiving ratio Breakout sells, and the extra room is worth more than the price difference. The trade-off is cost: $8.00 per $1K at $50,000 and above, roughly double a Turbo.
Pro suits traders who win big relative to their losses. Its 12% target against 5% room is the hardest ratio of the three, but it's the cheapest way to a $200,000 account with more than 3% room.
Turbo is a cheap test for disciplined scalpers. At $3.30 per $1K on the $100,000 and $200,000 sizes it's among the lowest prices we track for crypto firms, but 3% of total room means one bad day can end it.
Should you buy the 90/10 upgrade? It costs an extra 20% of the fee and adds 10 points of split, so it pays for itself once you've withdrawn about twice the original fee in gross profit. On a $400 Classic, that's $800. If you expect to get paid more than once, buy it.
Trading rules in practice
Drawdown and the daily reset
Every current plan uses a static drawdown: set once from the starting balance, it never moves, even as you make money or withdraw. It's checked against equity, so open losses count.
The daily loss limit is 3% of your balance at 00:30 UTC, recalculated every day. Open positions aren't included in that balance. Because it's based on your current balance, the daily floor rises as you make money. A $100,000 account at $105,000 at the reset can't go below $101,850 that day, even though the static floor is far lower.
00:30 UTC is 8:30pm in New York during daylight saving time and 7:30pm in winter.
Payouts widen the daily limit. When you request a payout, the amount is added back to that day's daily buffer until the next reset. In Breakout's example, withdrawing $5,000 from a $105,000 balance moves the daily floor from $101,850 to $96,850.
Leverage and position limits
Leverage is set per market. On 12 August 2026 Breakout raised BTC, the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 from 5x to 10x, SOL from 2x to 5x and HYPE from 2x to 3x.
| Leverage | Markets |
|---|---|
| 10x | BTC, Nasdaq 100 (XYZ100), S&P 500 |
| 5x | ETH, SOL, XRP, BNB, DOGE, ADA and 21 other coins, plus crude oil and silver |
| 3x | 11 coins including HYPE, PEPE, ENA and NEAR |
| 2x | 29 smaller coins |
Each market also has a maximum position size, published on the Symbols page. For the non-crypto markets it's $1,000,000 notional on the Nasdaq 100 tracker, $2,000,000 on the S&P 500 and $200,000 on crude oil and silver.
The index and commodity markets are priced from Hyperliquid, not from CME. Outside US stock market hours a protected pricing model applies, spreads can widen and prices can jump at the open.
Fees
There's a 0.04% fee on every order, so 0.08% for a round trip, and a 0.033% daily swap fee on open positions. On the Breakout terminal the swap is charged in six slices every four hours. These fees come out of your demo balance and count toward your limits.
A $100,000 BTC position costs $40 to open and $40 to close. On a $25,000 Turbo with $750 of total room, that $80 round trip is more than a tenth of your drawdown. Holding the same position for a day adds $33 in swap.
Slippage is real too. Breakout's own example: a single $100,000 market order in POPCAT filled about 0.6% above the quoted price because the order book was thin. Stick to liquid pairs or split large orders.
News, weekends and hours
- News trading is allowed on evaluations and funded accounts, with no blackout window.
- Weekend and overnight holding is allowed.
- Trading hours are 24/7, apart from maintenance.
Hedging, copy trading and what's banned
- Hedging inside one account is allowed. Hedge Mode is on by default, so you can hold a long and a short on the same coin.
- Cross-account hedging is banned: opposite positions on the same or correlated assets across any of your accounts, or coordinated with another trader.
- Copy trading between different traders' accounts is banned. So is executing trade ideas copied from a third party, including signals, communities, social media and research reports.
- Also banned: exploiting price or latency errors, insider information, front-running, off-the-shelf strategies sold to pass evaluations, switching strategy after passing, arbitrage against other accounts, trading several accounts from the same household, device or IP address, and trades likely to trigger auto-deleveraging or huge swings in unrealized P&L.
- Bots and EAs aren't addressed in the help center articles we read. Ask support before running one.
A confirmed hedging violation ends all linked accounts and forfeits profits. Breakout says a first, inadvertent case may get a warning.
Account limits and inactivity
You can buy as many evaluations as you like. Funded accounts are capped at $200,000 combined, and you can trade several at once within that cap. Breakout doesn't publish an inactivity rule.
How payouts work
- When: any time, on weekdays or weekends, from the first day of the funded account, as long as you have no open positions and haven't breached.
- Minimum: $50, after the split.
- Split: 80%, or 90% if you bought the upgrade at checkout. It can't be added later.
- Method: USDC on Ethereum (ERC-20) only. You give a wallet address after POL approves the request.
- Speed: approval takes 12 to 24 hours, "but is usually much quicker".
- Caps: none per payout. The only cap is the $200,000 total allocation.
- Fee refund: none. Evaluation fees are non-refundable.
The amount you request comes off your balance immediately, and you can keep trading while it's processed. You can also put your payout balance toward a new evaluation instead of withdrawing it.
Worked example. Your $50,000 Classic funded account is at $53,000. You close all positions and request a payout of the $3,000 profit. At 80% you receive $2,400 in USDC; with the 90/10 upgrade, $2,700. Your static floor stays at $47,000, so you still have $6,000 of room after the withdrawal.
Things to know about USDC. Breakout says payouts aren't insured or guaranteed by any institution. Its help center lists risks including smart contract bugs, network congestion, wrong gas fees and sanctions, and says no adjustment is made if USDC's price moves between request and arrival. Use a wallet you control on the Ethereum network.
KYC. None is needed to buy or trade an evaluation. After you pass, you complete identity checks through SumSub (photo ID, selfie and proof of address if needed) with any VPN switched off, and sign the Funded Trader Agreement. Approval takes 12 to 24 hours. If your KYC can't be approved, Breakout refunds any active evaluations.
Breaches on funded accounts. If you hit a limit, your terminal access ends 7 days later, and you need a new evaluation to trade again.
Scaling. Breakout doesn't publish a scaling plan. The $200,000 combined allocation is the ceiling.
Who can sign up
You must be at least 18. Breakout and POL don't serve anyone from, or located in, Afghanistan, Belarus, Myanmar, Cambodia, the Central African Republic, Cuba, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nicaragua, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, or the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. The list can change at the firm's discretion.
US traders can sign up. The US isn't on the list, and Breakout is based in Florida. A VPN is allowed while trading, but not to hide your location, and never during KYC. You can pay by card or with certain cryptocurrencies.
Reputation
On Trustpilot, Breakout scores 4.7 out of 5 from 1,234 reviews, checked on 28 October 2026 (493 in the last 12 months). Of those, 91% give five stars and 3% give one star. Breakout claimed its profile in December 2023, pays for a Trustpilot subscription, and had replied to 48% of negative reviews, typically within two weeks. Trustpilot shows a banner saying the company "may be associated with high-risk investments". See the Trustpilot page.
Recent positive reviews mention fast payouts, simple rules with no hidden conditions, quick support and a clear dashboard. The complaints are milder than at most firms: trading fees that eat into small targets, the app or live chat not working for one reviewer, the wait for a funded account to be enabled, and requests for more markets and for trading-journal integrations.
The ownership news is covered above. We found no regulator actions naming Breakout.

Mistakes to avoid at Breakout
- Sizing to the leverage, not the drawdown. 10x on BTC lets a $25,000 Turbo open $250,000, which wipes the account on a 0.3% move. Size from your stop and your dollar room.
- Ignoring the rising daily floor. After a good day the daily limit is 3% below your new balance. A $105,000 balance puts that day's floor at $101,850, not $97,000.
- Forgetting fees in a tight plan. At 0.08% per round trip, ten $50,000 round trips cost $400, more than half the room on a $25,000 Turbo.
- Trading signals from a group or social media. Breakout bans executing trade ideas copied from third parties, including communities and research reports.
- Requesting a payout with a position open. You must be flat to request. Close everything, request, then trade again.
- Skipping the 90/10 upgrade and regretting it. It can only be added at checkout.
Before you buy: checklist
- Pick the plan by drawdown first (Classic 6%, Pro 5%, Turbo 3%), then by size.
- Check the leverage and maximum position size for the coins you trade on the Symbols page.
- Decide on the 90/10 upgrade before paying, since it can't be added later.
- Make sure you have an Ethereum wallet that can receive USDC.
- Confirm you can pass KYC without a VPN and aren't in a restricted country.
- Use code SCOUT at checkout. See our Breakout coupon page for how to apply it.
Our verdict
Breakout is one of the best-value crypto prop firms we track. Static drawdowns, no consistency rule, no minimum days, news and weekend trading, and USDC payouts on any day make the rules simple, and Kraken's ownership and a 4.7 Trustpilot score give it more standing than most young firms.
The weak points are the size of the room and what happens after you pass. Drawdowns of 3% to 6% leave little margin on volatile coins, fees add up quickly, and the funded account sits with a separate company that has broad discretion over execution and termination. Start with a Classic, size well below the leverage cap, and keep a copy of the Funded Trader Agreement you sign.
