Pay-after-you-pass plans flip the usual deal. Instead of paying the full fee up front, you pay a small entry fee — sometimes just a few dollars — and the main fee only once you pass.
How it works
- Pay the entry fee and start the evaluation.
- Trade to the target within the loss limits.
- When you pass, pay the remaining fee (often within a few days) to activate the funded account.
- Trade the funded account and request payouts as normal.
If you fail, you've only lost the entry fee.
Is it cheaper?
Only if you fail more often than you pass. Add both fees together and compare with the same firm's normal plan:
- Entry $5 + $345 after passing = $350 for a $50K account
- A standard $50K one-time plan from the same kind of firm might cost $250–$350
So you pay a little more when you pass, and far less when you don't. On PickMyFirm, pay-after-you-pass plans are always compared at their total price, so a $5 entry never looks like the cheapest plan.
Things to check
- Total cost. Both fees, in writing, for your account size.
- Payment deadline. Some firms give only a few days to pay after passing.
- Funded rules. Some of these plans have tighter drawdown or a consistency rule on the funded account.
- Refunds. The after-pass fee is usually non-refundable.
