On this page
Imagine passing a two-step evaluation, then being told you can't have the funded account because of where you live. It happens more often than it should, and it's almost always avoidable.
Why firms restrict countries
- Sanctions. Firms can't pay residents of sanctioned countries, so those are restricted almost everywhere.
- Local rules. Some countries regulate trading products or contracts like the ones prop firms use, so firms stay out.
- Payments. If a firm's payment or payout partners don't serve a country, the firm can't either.
- Fraud risk. Some firms restrict countries where they've seen a lot of chargebacks or abuse.
When it catches you out
Many firms let anyone buy an evaluation but only run identity checks — KYC — after you pass. If your country is restricted, that's when you find out. Some firms refund the fee in that case; many don't.
How to check before you buy
- Find the firm's restricted-country list. It's usually in the FAQ or terms of service.
- Check both your country of residence and your citizenship — some firms restrict either.
- Confirm the payout methods work where you live. A firm that accepts you is no use if it can only pay you by a method you can't receive.
- If the firm doesn't publish a list, ask support in writing before you pay.
Use our country pages
We built a page for each of 40 countries showing which firms accept traders from there, which don't, and the most common ways to pay and get paid. Start at prop firms by country, or see every firm's list in one table on restricted countries.
Lists change, so treat any list — ours included — as a starting point and confirm in the firm's own terms.
